American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU assignment requiring ECMO, IABP, and Impella expertise. NC or compact RN licensure is mandatory, with BLS/ACLS certifications and at least 2 years of CCU experience.

Prior charge nurse experience and Epic EMR proficiency are required. The role involves caring for CVICU patients, open heart post-ops, and ECMO patients, with 3x12 hour night shifts and every other weekend.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring ECMO, IABP, and Impella experience with NC or compact RN licensure.

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; no new graduates considered
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• SICU experience preferred
• Experience with ECMO, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, and Impella required
• Experience with CVVHA/CRRT requiredExperience managing arterial lines, blood products, central lines, and PICC lines, and starting IVs required
• Experience with continuous IV sedation and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips required
• Experience assisting with BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube insertion/removal, ventilator management, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and ETT/NT suctioning required
• Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias and multisystem organ failure required
• Sheath removal and TAVR experience preferred
• Chronic/acute renal failure and IV insulin protocol experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Must pass a pass/fail compliance EKG exam with up to two attempts allowed

Responsibilities

• CVICU setting caring for medical-surgical cardiac ICU patients including MI, CHF, cardiac surgeries, post cardiac cath, LVAD, Impella, IABP, Arctic Sun, renal failure/CRRT, respiratory failure, and sepsis patients
• Also cares for open heart surgical patients, AAA repair, vascular surgeries, and ECMO patientsPatient ratios of 1:1:1, 1:2, or 1:3
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00pm-7:30am
• Every other weekend required (both Saturday and Sunday), totaling 6 weekends over the 13-week contract
• Individualized scheduling options available (e.g., blocked)
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• Floating required to any Cone Health campus as needed
• Uses Epic EMR
• Provide critical care nursing to complex cardiovascular ICU patients including post cardiac surgery (direct from OR and otherwise) and pre/post cardiac cath intervention patients
• Monitor pulmonary artery lines/Swan Ganz and manage patients on advanced cardiac support devices
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel rate
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• RTO must be submitted at the time of application; no post-submission RTO requests accepted
