Job summary

Ericsson is seeking a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead operations in customer data centers and co-locations. You will ensure reliable installation, maintenance, and operation of optical transport infrastructure, interfacing with customers and vendors, and auditing work quality across installations, migrations, and remote hands.

The role requires hands-on experience with fiber optic cabling, optical testing, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Team lead experience.
• Strong command of written and verbal English for customer-facing communications.
• Excellent organizational, administrative, and documentation skills using Microsoft Office and customer apps.
• 3–15 years of experience in data center operations or similar technical environment with direct customer interaction.
• Hands-on experience with connectorized fiber optic cabling (single-mode and multi-mode, LC, fan-outs, structured cabling).
• Experience with optical testing and transport troubleshooting.
• Ability to multitask, stay composed under pressure in high-availability environments.
• Commitment to safety standards, quality requirements, and operational best practices.

Responsibilities

• Audit daily work in customer data centers and provide immediate feedback to technicians.
• Interact with customers via ticketing tools or face-to-face, delivering clear reports and updates.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, remediation and migration activities across data center optical and transport environments.
• Conduct and/or supervise optical testing and troubleshooting using test equipment (power meters, stabilized light sources, VFLs, OTDRs).
• Deliver services by following MoPs, engineering documents, vendor docs, and network diagrams.
• Read cut sheets and network design documents to ensure correct port connections and cable management.
