Job summary

FiberTel, LLC in Portland is seeking a Travel CDL Construction Worker/Laborer to support telecom construction projects across Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. You will assist with all phases of fiber optic installation and maintenance under foreman supervision.

The role is full-time, hourly, with travel accommodations and per diem; requires passing drug screen, valid CDL, and willingness to travel. Candidates must be able to work outdoors in varying weather and lift up to 75 pounds.

Qualifications

• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Possess a valid driver’s license or be eligible and willing to obtain the required license.
• A good driving record is required.
• Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner.
• Basic knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and equipment in a safe manner.
• ClassA Commercial Driver’s License is a plus (Higher wage scales apply to CDL holders).
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
• Willing and able to work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Hand dig using a shovel, mechanical tools.
• Installation and maintenance of underground telecommunications cabling.
• Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.
• Working in congested or remote areas.
• Maintain visual and audible contact with other crew members to ensure safe coordination.
• Perform general construction work under the Foreman/Supervisor.
• Maintain safe working habits according to regulations, procedures, and policies.
• Learn all aspects of crew and assist the operator and foreman as assigned.
• Set up, preparation, and cleanup of construction sites.
• Develop an understanding of buried utilities.
• Lift heavy equipment and supplies.
