Job summary

Community Partners in Action, Inc. is seeking a Youth Mentor for the REGIONS Staff Secure Residential Treatment Program in Hartford, CT. The role involves supervising male youth, delivering trauma‑informed care, and supporting treatment plans in a secure setting.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or higher with experience with at risk or court‑involved youth, with bilingual Spanish/English preferred. Evening/night shifts, overtime, and local travel are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher with experience working with at‑risk or court‑involved adolescents.
• Associates or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a related internship may be considered in lieu of work experience.
• Understanding and knowledge of gender‑specific, trauma‑informed, culturally responsive and linguistically appropriate issues and needs.
• Must have and maintain a valid CT driver's license and reliable transportation; willing to transport clients and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision and care and assist youth with daily activities including school and groups.
• Maintain a safe, strengths-based, gender responsive, trauma informed, linguistically appropriate and culturally sensitive environment.
• Maintain accountability for the location of youth at all times; follow agency policies and procedures.
• Mediate and resolve youth problems using relational, strengths-based approaches; use approved intervention skills as needed.
• De-escalate and use restraint techniques when necessary to prevent harm.
• Use DBT Coaching with the youth and conduct groups to reduce negative behaviors.
• Monitor youth visiting and maintain professional boundaries with youth and families/visitors.
• Maintain accurate logs and forms; participate in program planning and discharge planning.
