Job summary

Community Partners in Action in Hamden, CT, is seeking a Youth Mentor for the REGIONS Site Secure Residential Treatment Program for Male Youth. This 2nd shift role runs Wednesday through Sunday, 4:00 pm to 12:00 am.

The position requires an associate degree or higher and experience with at-risk or court-involved adolescents; bilingual Spanish/English preferred; duties include supervision, crisis management, and transport.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher with experience with at-risk or court-involved adolescents and residential treatment.
• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with related internship may substitute for work experience.
• Bi-lingual ability (Spanish/English) preferred.
• Must be willing to work in a hardware secure environment.
• Must have CT driver’s license with reliable transportation.
• Able to transport clients in mechanical restraints and become SCM certified; work additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision and care and assist youth with daily activities.
• Maintain a safe, trauma-informed, gender-responsive environment.
• Mediate and resolve youth problems using strengths-based approaches.
• Use de-escalation techniques to maintain safety.
• Promote pro-social behaviors and discharge planning as part of the REGIONS team.
