Job summary

KEYS Academy, supported by Health Connect America, seeks a licensed Special Education teacher in Virginia to deliver individualized, data-driven instruction aligned to IEP goals. You will implement structural routines, evidence-based strategies, and integrated Social Thinking language within a small classroom, under the School Director's guidance.

The role emphasizes safety, dignity, and opportunity, collaborating with paraprofessionals, families, and related services to support at-risk students

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Special Education law and practices.
• IEP development and compliance requirements.
• Behavioral strategies, crisis intervention and positive behavioral supports.
• Ability to develop and implement instruction aligned to SOLs and individualized IEP goals.
• Strong classroom management and structured teaching skills.
• Ability to analyze student data and make instructional decisions.
• Proficiency with educational technology and online learning platforms.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver lesson plans aligned to SOLs, school curriculum, and IEP goals.
• Differentiate instruction to meet varied academic, behavioral, communication, and sensory needs.
• Implement evidence-based teaching strategies including differentiated instruction and positive behavioral supports.
• Embed communication development and social-emotional learning into daily lessons.
• Utilize online platforms (Courseware, EXACT Path, LEXIA) and literacy resources.
• Create and maintain a structured master classroom schedule and promote collaboration with support staff.
• Establish a safe, dignified, and student-centered classroom environment.
• Manage behavior interventions using specified systems and supports.
• Collect and analyze data to monitor IEP goals and progress.
• Attend IEP meetings and collaborate with families and service providers.
