Job summary

Compass Housing Alliance is seeking a Program Assistant in Seattle to observe, record, and respond to the comings and goings of guests and staff. You will support a trauma-informed service approach within a unionized team and help maintain a safe environment at Otto’s Place Enhanced Shelter.

The role requires English proficiency, ability to work Sunday–Thursday 8am–4pm, and collaboration with the Program Supervisor. Salary starts at $25.24 per hour with step increases and non-exempt status.

Qualifications

• Experience in trauma-informed care and crisis response.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.
• Familiarity with homelessness/housing instability topics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed monitoring to ensure safety and comfort of guests and staff.
• Mediate conflicts and de-escalate crises; refer to appropriate services as needed.
• Support program activities including meals, laundry, group activities, and information/referrals.
• Engage guests to assess needs and respond with information and referrals.
• Log actions and report issues to management; monitor building security and access.
