Job summary

Compass Housing Alliance in Seattle, WA, seeks a Program Assistant for the North Beacon Hill neighborhood to monitor activity, keep a safe/comfortable environment, and support guests, residents, and staff around trauma-informed care.

The role is unionized (OPEIU Local 8), requires English fluency, and includes varied shifts Wed–Fri 3:30pm–11:30pm, Sat–Sun 3:00pm–11:00pm with a paid 30‑minute meal period. A 2.5% raise after a year applies.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in a social/human service setting, preferred.
• Fluent reading/writing and understanding of English required.
• Familiarity with housing instability, mental health, or related topics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed monitoring to ensure safety and comfort for guests and staff.
• Mediates conflicts, de-escalates crises, and refers to services as needed.
• Assist in program activities, including meals, laundry, and group activities.
• Engage guests to assess needs and provide information and referrals.
• Log actions and report incidents to program coordinators and managers.
