Promise Resource Network in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Respite Peer Support Specialist Bridger to provide trauma-informed, peer-to-peer support within respite settings and in the community.

You will assist with advocacy, housing and benefits connections, transport, and connecting guests to local resources, while supporting the TCL Ambassador Program and maintaining a safe, recovery-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Current NC Certified Peer Support Specialist or eligible to become.
• Belief in the recovery potential of all people and commitment to the philosophy of peer support.
• Ability to receive guidance, training, and mentoring to grow skills and knowledge.
• Demonstrates leadership by modeling PRN’s mission, values, philosophy, and guidance to team members.
• Demonstrates taking personal responsibility, being dependable, reliable, working as a team player, and utilizing personal determination skills.
• Honesty, integrity, is ethical and approachable.
• Ability to interact effectively with the public, providers and other stakeholders.
• Belief in the recovery potential of all people with MH/SA challenges and committed to the philosophy of peer support.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care, theories, principles, and practices.
• Ability to recognize the difference between a mental health crisis and a mental health emergency.

Responsabilités

• Share personal experience, encourage mental health wellness and recovery, and validate different pathways of recovery.
• Assist in connection with mental health services, community resources, and other services as needed.
• Help maintain a clean, safe and secure environment. Cleaning duties as assigned.
• Manage downtime with guests, focusing on wellness and recovery activities.
• Work cooperatively with the Respite team and maintain clear, honest, and respectful communication with team members.
• Offer peer-to-peer support to guests during all phases of their stay (pre-arrival, arrival, during the guests’ stay, departure/discharge plan, after-care planning).
• Work as part of a team to create a bed-and-breakfast like setting and a healing physical environment.
• Document and track information as required.
• Support with community and home visits as outlined in the TCL Ambassador Program Scope of Work.
• Start connections with potential guests after they enter the waitlist to stay at the respite via phone call and visits when possible.
• Support peers as a Peer Bridger from the Respite to the community by connecting, driving, or accompanying Respite guests to PRN, the HUB, other PRN programs or events, organizations, or places in the community that promote connection and wellness.
• Act as a lead peer on follow up with previous guests via phone calls, visits in the community, and provided/connect with resources.
• All other duties as assigned by the program manager.
