Job summary

The role involves advocacy, connecting guests with resources, and facilitating recovery-focused activities in a compassionate setting. The position requires NC Certified Peer Support Specialist credentials, lived experience with mental health/substance use, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist required.
• Lived experience with substance use disorder and/or mental health challenges and eligibility for NC PSS certification.
• Strong communication and active listening skills; ability to work in trauma-informed care settings.
• Ability to use computer software for word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentation.
• Valid NC Driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-sensitive peer-to-peer support within the Respite context.
• Assist with connection to mental health services, housing and benefits, and local resources.
• Offer 24-hour peer warm line support as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and assist with housekeeping duties.
• Collaborate with the Respite team and communicate openly with staff.
• Support guests through all phases of stay and discharge planning.
