Job summary

Ruby's Place in Alameda, CA is seeking a part-time Program Advocate (Anchor Village) for Sat/Sun 7am-3pm. This 16-hour-per-week, in-person role is non-exempt and focuses on maintaining a welcoming, trauma-informed drop-in center for program participants.

You will assist with check-in, provide information and referrals, monitor spaces, and help participants access housing navigation, case management, and other services. Strong interpersonal skills and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in homelessness or social services preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to stay calm in challenging situations.
• Team collaboration and reliability are essential.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct participant support and greet guests at the drop-in center.
• Assist with check-in, orientation, and understanding program guidelines.
• Respond to participant needs and provide information about resources.
• Maintain a respectful and welcoming environment for all participants.
• Monitor spaces for safety and program adherence.
• Report safety concerns to the Site Coordinator or Program Manager.
• Support daily program activities, setup, and participant flow.
• Document interactions and updates in program records.
• Provide referrals to housing navigation and case management.
• Complete time sheets and participate in supervision.
