Job summary

Ruby's Place is seeking a Program Advocate (Anchor Village) for an in-person, part-time overnight role in Alameda, CA. The 16-hour weekly position runs Wed/Thu 11pm–7am, non-exempt, with benefits including paid time off and retirement contributions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Experience with homeless or social services preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to participants accessing services at the drop in center.
• Greet participants, assist with check-in and orientation, and explain program guidelines.
• Respond to participant needs and provide information about available resources.
• Maintain a respectful and welcoming environment for all participants.
• Monitor program areas for safety and adherence to expectations.
• Conduct site checks and support a calm, organized program space.
• Assist with daily activities including set-up, service coordination, and participant flow.
• Support opening and closing procedures of the Day Center, Night Shelter, or Safe Parking Program as assigned.
• Maintain shift logs and document participant interactions and incidents.
• Communicate updates or concerns to the Site Coordinator and program team.
• Support documentation processes contributing to program reporting.
