Job summary

Safe Horizon’s Safe Way Forward Program seeks dedicated professionals to support families affected by domestic violence within the child welfare system. You will use a trauma-informed, client-centered, anti-oppressive approach to help clients achieve safety and healing from trauma.

You will conduct intake, provide crisis intervention, and assist with accessing housing, public benefits, legal advocacy, and other essential services, while maintaining clear documentation and collaborating with ACS

Qualifications

  • Master degree required: MSW, LSW, MH, LMH or equivalent; ACS may waive BA/BS with experience.
  • Two years’ experience with victims of domestic violence and/or child welfare in a trauma-informed setting.
  • Training in case management and/or working with survivors of domestic violence or those causing harm.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and apply trauma-informed, client-centered approach with anti-oppressive lens.
  • Conduct comprehensive intake and needs assessments for survivors and families.
  • Provide crisis intervention and short-term counseling for survivors.
  • Deliver high-quality case planning and help access services (housing, benefits, education, legal advocacy).
  • Develop practice skills aligned with Safe Horizon’s client-centered approach.
  • Engage in safety planning and risk management dialogues with clients.
  • Conduct home, office, and school visits with clients and their families.
  • Advocate for clients via calls and letters; accompany to appointments.
  • Maintain timely documentation in computerized records and collaborate with service providers.
  • Participate in SWF team case review meetings and communicate with supervisors.
