Job summary

You will interpret documentation, resolve ambiguities, and maintain strict confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires familiarity with EMRs/encoders, 2+ years in trauma inpatient coding, and certifications such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CIC.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of inpatient trauma-1 coding experience.
• Certification in RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CIC.
• Strong communication and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
• Experience with EMRs and encoders; ability to learn quickly.
• Knowledge of DRG assignment and coding guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret complex records to assign and sequence correct facility diagnosis and procedure codes.
• Ensure coding complies with third party payor requirements and policies.
• Obtain clarification when documentation is conflicting, ambiguous or non-specific.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and other legal requirements.
