Job summary

The Inpatient Coder for e4health is responsible for accurately abstracting data into client EMR systems following ICD-10-CM/PCS guidelines, UHDDS, and CMS directives. Assign POA indicators, query physicians when needed, and maintain coding accuracy above 95% while meeting productivity targets.

This PRN, remote role requires availability of 15-20 hours per week on projects; prior Trauma Level 1 facility experience and CCS credential are required.

Qualifications

• CCS credential required.
• 5+ years in a Trauma Level 1/Academic Teaching facility experience required.
• Proficient in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding.
• 3+ years of experience coding within the US required.

Responsibilities

• Assigns appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS codes to inpatient accounts per designated workflow.
• Abstracts and enters coded data for hospital statistical and reporting requirements.
• Assigns present on admission indicators and discharge dispositions.
• Queries physicians to clarify conflicting, imprecise, incomplete, ambiguous information.
• Communicates documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues to relevant personnel.
