Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Formalized Training in Medical Terminology required.
• Must score 80% on Medical Terminology & ICD-10-CM Course.
• Must exceed standard at midyear and annual appraisal to advance.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret medical record entries to identify all diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign ICD-10-CM and AAAM codes per coding principles and policies.
• Identify Trauma Registry inclusion criteria.
• Abstract data and enter into Trauma Registry; ensure accuracy.
• Perform AIS coding and Injury Severity Scoring.
• Ensure timely entry of abstracted data and provide reports for performance improvement.
