Job summary

The role requests RHIT/RHIA/CCS consideration, with one year of inpatient coding experience or completion of the Coding Apprentice Program, and strong knowledge of coding guidelines and EHR systems.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in CAHIIM accredited program or equivalent experience.
• Relevant inpatient coding experience preferred or completion of Houston Methodist Apprentice Program.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient encounters based on documentation in the EMR.
• Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Interact with physicians and care teams to obtain needed documentation.
• Maintain high standards of data quality and timely coding submissions.
