Job summary

Sysco Virginia seeks a Transportation Supervisor to support the Transportation Manager in overseeing delivery and backhauls, train and supervise associates, and ensure compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations while promoting safety and efficiency.

You will review schedules, manage labor hours within budget, coordinate with Warehouse and Customer Service, and participate in safety inspections and root-cause analyses, with occasional travel to other distribution centers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 2–4 years transportation experience or training.
• 2–4 year college degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management or similar major preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises daily work and safety of Transportation Associates; adheres to SOPs and regulations.
• Ensures compliance with DOT, OSHA and other regulatory agencies; maintains current electronic logs.
• Manages labor hours and consumables within budget; schedules shifts as needed.
• Trains new associates and cross-trains existing staff.
• Coordinates asset usage and repairs with relevant departments to support delivery.
• Reviews delivery functions and productivity; suggests efficiency improvements.
• Communicates with Warehouse and Customer Service to resolve issues; visits customer locations as needed.
• Participates in safety inspections and root-cause analyses with Safety Manager.
