Job summary

MV Transportation is seeking a Safety Training Manager to lead operator training and safety programs across the project. You will recruit, screen, and train operators, conduct classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction, and ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations.

You will also manage drug and alcohol testing, oversee safety committees, and coordinate with client agencies and corporate staff to improve safety performance and reduce liability.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications according to local contract requirements.
• Previous passenger transportation in current project or similar environment required.
• Previous training and supervisory experience preferred but not required.
• Excellent safety and service record.
• Knowledge of local training program and local operations.
• Knowledge of project specific vehicles, components, and data/communications systems.
• Knowledge of State and Federal regulations and corporate safety programs and policies.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with all departments.
• Ability to work independently and objectively.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Knowledge of Windows-based systems and Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and screen potential new hire operator candidates to be placed into training.
• Manage training programs to ensure operators receive minimum initial and ongoing training.
• Community outreach to identify recruitment sources.
• Provide classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction per client specifications.
• Manage monthly/annual refresher training.
• Respond to operator accidents and incidents per policy.
• Review accidents for causes and retraining needs.
• Manage Drug and Alcohol Testing program as required.
• Establish Safety Committee and propose safety enhancements.
• Coordinate with operations and maintenance on training needs.
• Ensure documentation of training activities and records.
• Establish relationships with client agency personnel for training resources.
• Work with claims staff to handle liability and workers' comp claims.
• Manage injury claims to minimize lost time.
• Audit training and facility safety to ensure OSHA/EPA compliance.
• Ensure operator performance reviews and feedback.
• Hire and manage safety department staff and instructors.
• Keep training materials up to date and inventories secured.
• Provide regular reports on safety, claims, and training metrics.
• Ensure service delivery meets client contract standards.
• Coordinate dispatcher/reservations activities.
• Maintain positive work environment and supervision.
• Monitor dispatchers, call-takers, and vehicles.
• Enter payroll information daily.
• Address employee concerns and benefits enrollment.
• Ensure fares are collected and deposits made daily.
• Analyze trips with Paraplan Scheduling software.
• Evaluate staff performance and daily productivity.
• Troubleshoot tablet issues.
• Analyze Paraplan performance for future scheduling.
