Job summary

MV Transportation seeks an experienced Safety and Training Manager to implement programs in compliance with State and Federal regulations and client policies. The role leads OSHA/CDL initiatives at the division level and drives training across all operators.

Responsibilities include maintaining safety manuals, conducting audits, analyzing trend data, and coordinating with claims staff to manage liability and injuries, ensuring a strong safety culture across locations in California.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years of progressively responsible safety and/or operational experience in transit.
• Four-year degree in occupational safety or related field desirable.
• OSHA 30-hour General Industry Safety Certification desirable at start and within 12 months.
• Public Transportation Safety Certification Training desirable at start and within six months.
• Certified Safety Professional or Associate Safety Professional desirable.
• CDL examiner credential desirable.
• Ability to write and update PTASP is required.
• Strong regulatory compliance skills with leadership and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Sets the tone for training requirements for all operators.
• Ensures safety manuals, programs, and policies are current and meet division needs.
• Resides as the expert in EPA and OSHA, CDL compliance and regulations.
• Ensures new hires meet minimum qualifications including background and DMV checks.
• Analyzes safety data and develops plans to reduce and prevent incidents.
• Oversees corporate safety incentives and programs including Safety Points.
• Promotes a consistent safety culture across locations and departments.
• Manages injury claims to minimize lost time and facilitate quick return to full duty.
• Oversees audits by corporate, client, and regulatory bodies.
• Leads safety classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction per specs.
