Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. is seeking a Transportation Manager II in Edgerton, KS. This role oversees direct driver management, ensuring safe and timely freight movement, load assignment, and best-in-class customer service under DOT compliance.

The position requires flexibility across shifts including days, nights, and weekends, with responsibilities spanning planning, routing, monitoring, and reporting for efficient operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 2-3 years in transportation/logistics or related field
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/Word/PP/Outlook)
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and safety to minimize turnover and maximize ongoing productivity
• Fill in for absent or unavailable personnel and on special projects related to optimizing fleet operations and profitability
• Utilize personnel management including training and orientation of drivers and/or employees
• Conduct analysis of fleet operations and profitability and present customer-specific reporting and financial analysis
• Manage inventory, assets, customer pools, and/or assignment of drivers to balance equipment
• Perform administrative duties such as payroll, driver counseling, and invoice processing
• Manage yard operations and coordinate maintenance for account equipment
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service issues
• Maintain safety culture with driver safety messages and training and enforce DOT compliance
• Assign loads, plan routes, monitor freight movement, and adjust ETAs as needed
