Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Transportation Manager II to oversee direct driver management, route planning, and profitable fleet operations, ensuring safe, on-time freight movement.

This full-time role requires DOT compliance, strong leadership, and the ability to coordinate with customers and internal teams across day, night or weekend shifts to meet demand.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 2-3 years of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, and/or equivalent military experience.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed.
• Strong professional communication skills applied internally and externally.
• Proven ability to analyze information with high accuracy and to make informed decisions.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and safety to minimize turnover and maximize productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and on special projects related to optimizing fleet operations and profitability.
• Conduct analysis of fleet operations and profitability and present customer-specific reporting and financial analysis.
• Manage payroll, driver counseling, and administrative duties.
• Assign loads and plan, route, and monitor freight movement to ensure on-time service and meet customer requirements.
