Job summary

J.B. Hunt is seeking a Transportation Manager to oversee direct driver management for midsize fleets, ensuring safe, on-time movements and strong customer service.

The role requires compliance with DOT regulations and the ability to coordinate with internal and external contacts for planning, routing, and delivery of freight. The position supports day, night, and weekend shifts as needed to meet demand, with responsibilities spanning payroll, safety training, and performance reporting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required with 2–3 years in transportation/logistics
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, or related field preferred
• Experience coordinating driver schedules and routing across shifts
• Proficient in MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
• Strong communication and customer-relations skills

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with drivers and safety to minimize turnover
• Fill in for absent personnel and support fleet optimization projects
• Train and orient drivers and staff on internal systems
• Analyze fleet operations, KPI reporting, and profitability for improvements
• Assign loads, plan routes, and monitor freight for on-time delivery
• Manage yard, maintenance scheduling, and incident follow-ups
• Resolve service issues with drivers, customers, and internal teams
• Enforce safety and DOT compliance in daily operations
