Job summary

Smart Foodservice Stores in the United States is seeking a Manager, Transportation to lead a team of CDL-A drivers and transportation staff. You will drive safe, cost-efficient outbound shipments to customers and distribution centers, while upholding DOT compliance and a safety-first culture.

This role requires 3+ years leading unionized drivers, hands-on coaching, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in transportation/delivery or warehouse distribution.
• Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce.
• Experience as a driver a plus.
• Knowledge of DOT requirements and OSHA/regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead with a safety mindset to keep drivers, customers, and the public injury-free.
• Coach drivers and staff; ensure proper training for safety and procedures.
• Address performance gaps and create improvement plans with senior managers.
• Foster upward communication and motivate the team to meet goals.
• Direct and supervise drivers and clerical staff; drive engagement and retention.
• Recruit and interview transportation personnel; monitor performance and discipline as needed.
• Analyze delivery issues; implement cost-efficient, legal solutions and DOT compliance.
