Job summary

US Foods is seeking a Manager, Transportation to lead a dedicated transportation team, focusing on safe, cost-efficient and reliable outbound shipments to customers and distribution centers. You will oversee drivers and transportation associates, coach on policy, and ensure compliance with DOT regulations.

You will play a critical role in developing a high-performing team, maintaining safety standards, and driving operational excellence across the transportation function.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in transportation/delivery or warehouse distribution.
• Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce.
• Experience as a driver is a plus.
• Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods and procedures.
• Strong leadership, communication and people development skills.
• Strong understanding of DOT requirements. Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
• Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
• Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office).

Responsibilities

• Lead with a safety mindset to keep associates, customers, and the public injury-free; champion safety procedures and training.
• Oversee and develop drivers and Transportation associates through coaching, training on policy and procedures, and performance management.
• Review performance with senior managers and create improvement plans to address gaps.
• Foster upward communication and motivate the team to meet department goals and objectives.
• Direct and supervise transportation staff; drive engagement and retention and uphold company values.
• Participate in interviewing and hiring Transportation personnel with senior managers; assess service and safety targets.
• Monitor production goals and maintain accuracy; troubleshoot delivery issues and ensure DOT compliance.
