Join the West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) as a Transportation Human Resources Generalist 2 at District 8 Headquarters in Randolph County, WV (Elkins, WV). This classified-exempt, at-will role centers on employee support through benefits administration, with opportunities for broad HR cross-training to strengthen your day-to-day skill set.

Compensation: $46,294 - $66,244 per year. The position is onsite.

What You’ll Do

• Lead benefits administration, supporting the benefits process from start to finish.
• Guide employees through their coverage options, helping them understand how choices work and what to select.
• Receive cross-training across other HR areas, including on-boarding, recruitment, training, and workforce analytics.

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid paraprofessional experience in one or more of the following: human resources, payroll, bookkeeping, or accounting.
• Substitution options:
  • Experience in human resources, payroll, bookkeeping, or accounting may be substituted for the required education/training through an established formula.
  • Successful completion of graduate coursework from a regionally accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience through an established formula.
• Travel may be required, so a valid driver’s license is required.
• Promotional Only: Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a Human Resources Specialist Associate.
