Job summary

Apex Engineering Group has openings for an Engineering Technician in the Transportation Group. The position offers flexible or hybrid work from any Apex office across the region, focusing on transportation projects and supporting municipal and water/wastewater groups as needed.

Responsibilities include CAD drafting with AutoCAD/MicroStation, assisting with project plans, calculating quantities, and supporting field activities. Some travel and field work as an RPR may be required in MN or ND.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates degree in Engineering Technology or Drafting desirable.
• Experience with Civil-3D, AutoCAD or MicroStation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare dimensional drawings and designs from rough sketches using AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Assist Project Managers and Engineers in developing project plans and specs.
• Calculate dimensions, areas and quantities for roadway and utilities.
• Learn and use CAD software to prepare plan documents.
• Support construction observation, surveying and materials testing as needed.
• Travel out of town may be required during construction season.
