Job summary

Fehr & Peers seeks a Transportation Design Engineer to lead evaluation, design, and documentation for transportation projects across communities. You will generate conceptual designs, collaborate with planners and engineers, and guide field work from staff at all levels.

You will manage projects, engage clients, and mentor junior staff while adopting new tools and best practices established by industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in transportation, civil or electrical engineering, urban planning or related major
• PE license currently held or planned
• Experience applying Caltrans, MUTCD and AASHTO design standards
• Experience preparing signing, striping and traffic signal plans
• Strong communication and client-relations skills
• Mentoring and leading staff and proposals

Responsibilities

• Leading and managing tasks for engineering and planning studies
• Performing field work and supporting construction
• Preparing conceptual designs that are feasible and visually engaging
• Preparing PS&E for transportation projects including complete streets and signals
• Managing client interaction and community engagement
• Marketing and bringing in new projects through proposals
• Mentoring colleagues and accepting mentorship from senior staff
• Adopting new tools and technologies while maintaining professional judgment
