Job summary

Fehr & Peers seeks a Transportation Design Engineer to lead evaluation, design, and delivery of transportation systems for varied communities. You will generate conceptual designs, develop construction documents, and collaborate across teams and with clients to ensure quality outcomes.

You will manage projects, mentor staff, and apply the latest best practices from NACTO and related organizations, driving innovation while maintaining balance with project timelines and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s in transportation, civil or related field.
• Current or planned PE license.
• Experience applying Caltrans, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards.
• Experience leading proposals and nurturing client relationships.
• Ability to mentor staff and work across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage engineering and planning studies.
• Perform field work and support during construction.
• Prepare conceptual designs and PS&E for transportation projects.
• Interact with clients and communities to communicate design intent.
• Market and bring in new projects through proposals and interviews.
• Mentor colleagues and stay current with tools and techniques.
