Job summary

Fehr & Peers seeks a Transportation Design Engineer to develop PS&E for traffic and multimodal projects, including complete streets, ITS, lighting, and bike/pedestrian improvements. You will use AutoCAD, Microstation, Synchro, Bluebeam, AGi32, and ProjectWise while gaining experience across the full project life cycle.

You’ll work with engineers, planners, technicians, and data scientists, advancing skills and contributing to citywide planning and construction support. A PE path is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in transportation, civil engineering, or a related field.
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Work experience and/or coursework in traffic engineering design or related transportation design experience.
• Exceptional technical writing and public speaking skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Microstation is highly desirable.
• Openness to exploring and responsibly using new technologies and tools, while maintaining professional judgment.

Responsibilities

• Develop concept designs and planning level cost estimates.
• Analyze design alternatives for traffic engineering projects.
• Conduct field visits to review existing conditions and constraints.
• Prepare design plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
• Support during construction with RFIs and submittals.
• Communicate engineering concepts in memos, reports, and meetings.
• Collaborate with planners, engineers, technicians, analysts, and data scientists.
• Learn under licensed engineers to count towards PE exam requirements.
