Job summary

The Oregon Department of Transportation Commerce and Compliance Division is seeking a Transportation Services Representative 1 – Service Center Representative to guide motor carriers through permits and weight‑mile tax requirements in a fast‑paced call center.

You will assess customer needs, explain applicable laws, issue permits, assist with online portal access and fee payments, and help ensure safe, efficient transportation across the state.

Qualifications

• Two years of public contact/customer service experience which involved dealing with the public in-person or by phone providing information about services/programs or explaining and/or applying laws, rules, regulations/procedures.
• Experience using computers to retrieve and input data.
• Completion of an associate’s degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service by explaining and applying motor carrier laws, rules and procedures.
• Issue motor carrier permits and temporary passes, ensuring compliance and eligibility.
• Review carrier information and determine required credentials for lawful operation.
• Assist customers with account set up, online portal access and fee payment.
• Accurately respond to questions regarding commercial vehicle tax services.
• Work is performed in a fast-paced, high-volume call center and may require long periods of sitting or standing.
