Job summary

Oregon Department of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Services Representative 1 for the DMV's Field Services Group in the Ontario region. You will aid the public with driver licenses, vehicle registrations, permits, and license plates, and you will administer knowledge and vision tests while collecting appropriate fees.

Qualifications

• Two years of public contact/customer service experience which involved dealing with the public in person or by phone providing information about services/programs or explaining and/or applying rules, regulations and procedures;
• Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data;
• Three months experience collecting money and making change.
• Completion of an associate’s degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience.

Responsibilities

• Help the public register vehicles and apply for permits;
• Provide exceptional customer service while following privacy laws;
• Communicate clearly with customers from diverse backgrounds to accurately answer complex questions in a way that is easily understood;
• Produce photo licenses, instruction permits and identification cards;
• Administer, correct and explain driver license tests;
• Conduct and interpret results of driver vision tests;
• Perform physical examinations of vehicles and verify vehicle identification numbers;
• Prepare daily bank deposits and account for sensitive inventory;
• Occasionally perform relief work in other DMV offices within the region;
• May require standing for extended periods of time, working in inclement weather, working an irregular schedule and lifting up to 40 pounds;
