Job summary

The Oregon Department of Transportation in Salem is seeking a Transportation Services Representative 1 to support motor carriers with permits and weight-mile tax requirements in a busy call center. Qualifications

• Two years of public contact/customer service experience involving dealing with the public in-person or by phone.
• Experience using computers to retrieve and input data.
• Completion of an associate’s degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service by explaining and applying motor carrier laws, rules and procedures.
• Issue motor carrier permits and temporary passes, ensuring compliance and eligibility.
• Review carrier information and determine required credentials for lawful operation.
• Assist customers with account set up, online portal access and fee payment.
• Accurately respond to questions regarding commercial vehicle tax services.
• Work is performed in a fast-paced, high volume call center and requires sitting or standing for long periods with heavy computer and phone use.
• 6 month rotating schedule is required to ensure coverage during the Monday – Friday 6:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. (PT) hours.
