Job summary

WeDriveU, located in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Safety Manager to develop, oversee, and enforce safety compliance for the transit program, ensuring DOT/OSHA/CAL-OSHA standards are met. The role will prepare the workforce for client needs and lead training initiatives across transportation personnel.

The Safety Manager will supervise driver trainers, recruit and train drivers, and administer drug/alcohol testing programs while maintaining safety meetings and incident reporting, to support safe,

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• 3 years as a Trainer in transportation industry desired.
• Experience supervising/training a driver workforce preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office and transportation software.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and group presentation skills.
• Ability to respond to unanticipated events to ensure customer service.

Responsibilities

• Lead, design, develop and implement initial and recurrent training programs for transportation personnel.
• Supervise driver trainers, establishing objectives, standards, schedules and accountability.
• Proactively recruit individuals to apply and train them to become Drivers.
• Provide classroom instruction and behind the wheel training of applicants and bus drivers to ensure successful completion of training and testing.
• Provide ongoing training and performance evaluations for all Driver employees.
• Administer and maintain Company random drug/alcohol testing and pre-employment testing program.
• Develop and conduct regularly scheduled Driver Safety Meetings.
• Respond to personal injury and vehicle accidents with on-scene investigation and reporting.
• Investigate customer service safety complaints and take corrective action.
• Administer and maintain Company Safe Driver Award Program.
