Job summary

Via is seeking a Quality & Safety Manager to oversee safety, service quality, and operational efficiency for our transit services. You will supervise and train drivers, monitor on-the-road performance, respond to incidents, and uphold service standards.

This is an in-person role requiring field presence five days per week, including weekends, with hands-on coaching and DOT compliance responsibilities as the DER. Final salary depends on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in transit supervision, transportation management, or a similar field preferred.
• Strong leadership skills to mentor and guide drivers.
• Excellent problem-solving and quick decision-making in dynamic situations.
• Strong communication skills for effective feedback and conflict resolution.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and ADA/paratransit compliance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-the-road supervision, including ride-alongs and shadowing, to ensure safety and service standards.
• Monitor and evaluate driver interactions, providing coaching and feedback.
• Provide continuous training in partnership with Field Manager (initial, remedial, refresher).
• Deliver hands-on coaching on safety procedures and service expectations.
• Lead post-incident protocols as the DER for DOT compliance.
• Serve as primary contact for urgent operational issues to maintain service continuity.
• Review complaint reports, driver feedback, and training documentation.
• Conduct training needs assessments and implement improvements.
• Allocate 85% on-the-road supervision and 15% training/administrative duties.
