Job summary

Butler County Regional Transit Authority seeks an experienced Operations Manager to support the Director of Operations and lead operational staff across BCRTA services. You will supervise staff, coordinate training, manage incidents, and collaborate on safety and performance initiatives.

Responsibilities include ensuring on-time service, ADA compliance, overseeing budgeting in operations, and partnering with maintenance for vehicle availability while promoting a safe, customer-focused transit

Qualifications

• Three to five years of progressively responsible supervisory and management experience in transportation operations.
• Experience with public transit operations preferred.
• High School diploma required; BA/BS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and manages all BCRTA street operations and all other services.
• Supervises and coordinates the activities of Operations Supervisors, including assigning work and performance evaluations.
• Addresses and manages needs for special service, service interruptions and staffing changes initiated after service starts.
• Enforces policy and procedures related to service operations and communicates them to staff.
• Maintains On-Time Performance and superior customer experiences by implementing policies and directives.
• Collaborates with management on new services or problem-solving situations.
• Works with Maintenance to assure vehicle availability and reliability.
• Collaborates with Operations team to interview and hire new staff.
• Assists HR in administering personnel procedures for operations employees.
• Submits written reports of incidents and accidents to the Director within 24 hours.
• Promotes a safe working environment and manages accident/incident procedures.
• Supports Safety Plan and Safety Management System compliance.
• Acts as supervisor for reasonable suspicion determinations under the drug and alcohol testing program.
• Investigates and responds to ADA/Title VI complaints per procedures.
• Collaborates on driver training and staff re-training programs.
• Provides service data to ensure data integrity and NTD reporting.
• Performs field supervision to ensure compliance and customer service standards.
• Ensures ADA fixed-route and paratransit service compliance with ADA requirements.
• Responds to accidents, incidents, service disruptions, and emergencies, including severe weather.
• Operates revenue vehicles as needed to cover service or emergencies.
• Monitors overtime and operating costs and assists with the Operations budget.
• Uses dispatch, scheduling, and vehicle-location systems to monitor service.
• Attends meetings on Director’s behalf or performs other duties as requested.
• Collaborates on special projects and organizational initiatives.
• Participates in training seminars to stay current in the profession.
• Represents BCRTA positively as an ambassador.
