Job summary

MTM Transit in Tucson, AZ seeks a Field Safety Manager to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency of fleet operations. You will lead drivers, monitor performance, and coach teams to uphold ADA/FTA/DOT standards while driving continuous improvement across departments.

This role requires a CDL, minimum 5 years in transit safety management, and a track record of enforcing safety protocols. You will report to the Safety Manager and contribute to MTM’s mission of accessible, reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• Minimum 5 years transit/paratransit safety management experience.
• At least 2 years’ experience as a driver in similar service.
• At least 1 year experience in Dispatch or Road Supervision.
• Must possess a valid CDL.
• Must pass pre-employment drug test and DOT physical.
• Thorough knowledge of ADA, FTA, DOT regulations.
• Strong knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
• Proficient in safety and training practices.
• Ability to coach, mentor and lead drivers.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and mentor drivers to maintain safe, reliable operations.
• Manage safety culture across departments (operations, safety, maintenance).
• Monitor and manage driver performance in the field.
• Provide on‑spot coaching to reinforce safe practices.
• Identify performance issues and take corrective actions.
• Conduct routine field observations for safe operations.
• Ensure compliance with ADA, FTA, DOT and company policies.
• Prepare and submit safety reports to the Safety Manager.
• Coordinate emergency response efforts when required.
• Promote accountability and safety awareness among staff.
