Job summary

MTM Transit is building a talent pipeline for the Manager, Safety & Training role in Transit Operations. The position focuses on creating and overseeing safety and training programs to drive operational excellence and regulatory compliance across transit and paratransit operations.

Ideal candidates will have strong experience in safety program implementation, incident investigation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to promote a robust safety culture.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Five years transit or paratransit safety management experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug test and DOT physical where required.
• Thorough knowledge of ADA, FTA, DOT requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and maintain a positive safety culture throughout the operation.
• Partner with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams to support safety initiatives and continuous improvement.
• Implement and support Safety Management System (SMS) programs, plans, and initiatives.
• Oversee safety incentive programs and monitor performance metrics.
• Manage FTA DAMIS reporting requirements and DOT compliance.
• Serve as the location Drug Program Manager and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Monitor workers’ compensation and insurance claims programs; support resolution and cost containment.
• Lead local safety committees and engage employees in safety initiatives.
• Deliver classroom, behind-the-wheel, and operational training per contract and company requirements.
• Ensure background and motor vehicle screening requirements for new hires.
• Maintain, review, and update safety policies and training materials.
• Investigate incidents; identify trends and implement corrective training.
• Support audits and inspections by internal, client, and regulatory bodies.
• Collaborate with leadership to develop safety meetings and education programs.
• Provide leadership and development to safety staff.
