Job summary

RMS Energy seeks a Transformer Technician I to support transformer assembly, oil processing, and on-site service for critical energy infrastructure across the U.S. You will assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of transformers from various OEMs at power plants, substations, and industrial facilities.

This hands-on role offers growth in a safety-first environment. Travel up to 80% is required, with emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel up to 80% across the continental U.S.
• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam; background check and pre-employment drug tests.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Availability for extended or irregular hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Physical capability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights exceeding 100 feet, operate in confined spaces, and perform duties outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Good vision, hearing, and English proficiency to ensure safe and effective communication in noisy environments.

Responsibilities

• Assemble transformer components such as radiators, bushings, and conservators
• Perform degassing, pressure, and vacuum testing using dehydrator units
• Re-gasket units and fabricate gaskets or O-rings when needed
• Assist with teardown and preparation of transformers for transport or disposal
• Identify and resolve basic wiring and mechanical issues
• Complete assigned tasks and daily work orders accurately and on schedule
• Inspect and operate tools, vehicles, and heavy equipment safely
• Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements when working near noise, electrical hazards, and at elevated heights
• Support the sales team by reporting project opportunities and potential customer leads
