Job summary

San José State University’s Office of the Registrar seeks a Transfer Credit Evaluator to evaluate, process, and post undergraduate transfer credits according to CSU regulations and university policies, supporting accurate academic records and timely degree progress.

You will review transcripts, post credits in PeopleSoft, determine course equivalencies, and serve as a resource to colleges, departments, and students while ensuring compliance with articulation rules and credit standards.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field.
• Two (2) years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field. A master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience
• Experience interpreting academic policies, degree requirements, transfer credit, or curriculum information
• Experience coordinating projects, maintaining complex databases, or managing operational processes involving multiple stakeholders
• Knowledge of course articulation practices and academic credit standards (semester/quarter unit conversion, GPA calculation, course equivalency)
• Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in higher education, enrollment services, transfer credit evaluation, academic advising, curriculum services, registrar functions, or a related area

Responsibilities

• Evaluate domestic and international transcripts, transfer coursework, dual-enrollment credit, AP, CLEP, IB, military credit, and other forms of non-traditional credit
• Post and update transfer credit in PeopleSoft, including unit and grade adjustments, GPA recalculations, grade forgiveness, repeat validations, and Associate Degree for Transfer coding
• Review course descriptions and articulation information to determine course equivalencies and recommend new transfer-credit rules
• Resolve transfer-credit discrepancies and provide accurate, timely, and student-centered guidance regarding academic records, policies, and procedures
• Serve as a subject-matter resource and liaison to designated colleges and departments while collaborating with Enrollment Management and campus partners during high-volume processing periods
