Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Production Manager Trainee 2 in North Carolina. The role focuses on learning and certifying in farm department areas, including breeding/farrowing and nursery/finishing, while supporting pig production processes and compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.

You will progress through the Manager Training development program, with supervision by department leaders, and may be required to work on-call for emergencies and after hours during training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related Agricultural field.
• English proficient and able to work 48 hour week.
• Willing to relocate for training and first managerial assignment.
• Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Learns, demonstrates capability/knowledge and becomes certified in all farm department areas.
• Gains understanding of pig production processes, animal flow, farm health and genetics.
• Performs hourly jobs under supervision and becomes certified in each.
• Develops and prepares reports on experiences and improvement opportunities.
• Complies with environmental laws, IPS, biosecurity, animal welfare and EMS policies.
• Reports environmental, animal care and biosecurity issues to supervisor.
• Acts as acting Head of Department as needed by management.
• On-call for emergencies including weather, power outages, shortages, and environmental events.
