Job summary

Apex Companies is seeking a Project Manager to lead traffic/transportation engineering initiatives in the Northeast Division. You will supervise studies, manage design and bid documents, and mentor a team across multi-modal projects, ensuring budgets and schedules align with client expectations.

The role requires a PE license in Massachusetts or reciprocity within one year, plus strong communication and client-relations skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering is required.
• 8+ years in traffic/transportation engineering with design, studies, and project management.
• Knowledge of traffic study/design standards and MassDOT submission processes.
• Expertise in traffic modeling (Synchro, Vissim) and traffic signal design.
• Massachusetts PE license or reciprocity within one year.
• PTOE certification is a plus.
• Strong planning, budgeting, and client-relations skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct preparation of studies, design and bid documents for traffic-related transportation projects addressing traffic challenges and multi-modal needs.
• Provide technical direction on traffic analysis models, traffic signal design, and management plans.
• Maintain oversight of project budgets, schedules, and progress.
• Present effectively at meetings with clients and the public.
• Mentor staff, manage workloads, and resolve issues.
• Prepare project scopes and budgets for proposals and contracts.
• Maintain communication with municipalities and regional agencies.
• Build existing and new client relationships to generate opportunities.
