Job summary

RoadSafe Traffic Systems in the Reno area is seeking a Traffic Control Technician II to set up and take down lane closures, ensure worker safety, and support project traffic control operations on state highways and other roadways.

You will operate company trucks, drive MOT and TMA vehicles, place signs and cones, maintain equipment, and comply with DOT regulations. Willingness to travel statewide, rotate on-call shifts, and lift up to 70 pounds are required.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License required.
• 1–3 years field traffic control experience with 2,000+ field hours.
• Able to pass background and motor vehicle record checks.
• Must pass a drug test and meet federal DOT requirements.
• Wear safety equipment and follow safety rules.
• Read plans and ensure traffic control plans are implemented.
• Able to lift up to 70 pounds.
• Willingness to travel statewide with possible overnight stays.
• Rotating on‑call schedule.
• Mechanical background/experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job sites.
• Drive MOT vehicle to and from projects and on work sites.
• Drive TMA vehicle to and from projects and on work sites to protect workers and work zones.
• Place temporary construction signs in work areas.
• Position arrow boards or variable message boards in work areas.
• Set up traffic cones and other safety devices.
• Monitor the work zone to ensure items remain in place.
• Collect and load traffic control items at shifts’ start and end.
• Install, remove, and reset delineators, signs, posts, and supports.
• Perform general shop maintenance and repair of equipment.
