Job summary

RoadSafe Traffic Systems is seeking a Traffic Control Technician II to set up and take down lane closures on state highways and other roadways. You will also deliver, assemble, and pickup safety products from job sites, following contractor directions.

Travel statewide with possible overnight stays and rotating on-call duties are expected. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of traffic control experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass DOT background checks and drug testing.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license.
• 1–3 years of experience and 2,000 in-field hours in traffic control.
• Pass background check, including motor vehicle records.
• Pass drug test and meet federal DOT requirements.
• Wear proper safety equipment (boots with safety toe, hard hat, safety glasses, and safety vest).
• Read and write to comply with road signs, complete paperwork, and knowledge of federal and state motor carrier safety regulations.
• Read plans and ensure traffic control plans are implemented and maintained.
• Willingness to travel statewide, with occasional overnight stays, and ability to work nights and weekends as required by projects.
• Must be available for a rotating on-call schedule.
• Mechanical background/experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job sites.
• Drive MOT (Management of Traffic) vehicle to and from projects and on work sites.
• Drive TMA (Truck Mounted Attenuator) vehicle to and from projects and on work sites to protect workers and work zones.
• Place temporary construction signs in work areas.
• Position arrow boards or variable message boards in work areas.
• Set up traffic cones and other traffic safety devices in work areas.
• Monitor the work zone throughout the shift to ensure items remain in their proper locations.
• Collect and load traffic control items at the beginning and end of shifts.
• Install, remove, and reset delineators, signs, posts, and supports.
• Perform shop work, including general maintenance and repair of equipment.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations to ensure a safe work environment.
• Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
