Job summary

RoadSafe Traffic Systems seeks a Traffic Control Technician II to set up and dismantle lane closures, safeguard crews, and manage traffic on state highways and work sites. You’ll follow contractor directions and ensure work zones remain safe and compliant.

Responsibilities include operating trucks, MOT and TMA vehicles, placing signs, cones, and barriers, and maintaining equipment with safety as a priority. Willingness to travel and work nights/weekends is required.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License is required.
• 1–3 years of experience and 2,000 field hours in traffic control.
• Must pass background check, including motor vehicle records.
• Must pass a drug test and meet federal DOT requirements.
• Wear PPE: boots with safety toe, hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest.
• Ability to read plans and ensure traffic control plans are implemented.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
• Willingness to travel statewide with occasional overnight stays.
• Must be available for rotating on‑call schedule.
• Mechanical background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job sites.
• Drive MOT vehicle to and from projects and on work sites.
• Drive TMA vehicle to and from projects and on work sites to protect workers.
• Place temporary construction signs in work areas.
• Position arrow boards or variable message boards in work areas.
• Set up traffic cones and other traffic safety devices.
• Monitor the work zone to ensure items remain in place.
• Load and unload traffic control items at shift start/end.
• Install, remove, and reset delineators, signs, posts, and supports.
• Perform shop maintenance on equipment.
• Follow safety rules and company policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
