Job summary

RoadSafe Traffic Systems in Shreveport, Louisiana, seeks a Traffic Control Technician II to set up and take down lane closures and ensure safety on state highways. You will lead MOT/TMA operations, transport materials, and follow DOT rules, working independently or with a crew.

The role requires 1–3 years of traffic control experience, the ability to lift up to 70 pounds, and willingness to travel statewide with occasional overnight stays. Rotation on-call and safety compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License.
• 1-3 years of experience and 2,000 in field hours in traffic control.
• Must pass background check, including motor vehicle records check.
• Must successfully pass a drug test and meet federal DOT requirements.
• Wear proper safety equipment (boots, hard hat, glasses, vest).
• Basic reading and writing ability to comply with road signs and paperwork; knowledge of safety regulations.
• Must read plans and ensure traffic control plans are implemented.
• Willingness to travel statewide with occasional overnight stays; rotating on-call schedule.
• Mechanical background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job sites.
• Drive MOT vehicle to and from projects and on work sites.
• Drive TMA vehicle to and from projects and on work sites to protect workers and work zones.
• Place temporary construction signs in work areas.
• Position arrow boards or variable message boards in work areas.
• Set up traffic cones and other safety devices.
• Monitor the work zone to ensure items remain in place.
• Collect and load traffic control items at shift start/end.
• Install, remove, and reset delineators, signs, posts, and supports.
• Perform shop work and general equipment maintenance.
• Follow all safety rules and company policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
