Job summary

Amentum seeks a Network Engineer to provide research, design, test, and evaluation support to the US PACOM Resources and Requirements Division at Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii.

The role supports ETA for warfighting networks, guiding LAN/WAN, SDN, and data center deployments and modernization efforts. Responsibilities include developing requirements, planning configurations, modeling networks, and implementing security measures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical discipline or equivalent
• 5–7 years of experience designing network infrastructure for large/complex networks
• Experience designing/implementing MPLS/VPN networks, SDN, and data centers with VSS/VPC
• Understanding of network technologies (ACI, SDN, SDWAN, routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, QoS)
• Active Top-Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility later during employment
• At least 5 years supporting DoW with 3 years in military operations
• Knowledge of Indo-Asia-Pacific region and strong communication skills

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize operational needs and translate into technical requirements
• Oversee network system configuration and plan new configurations for operations
• Research, design, test, and evaluate new technologies and solutions
• Design and implement LAN/WAN, SDN, and data communications networks
• Lead design/engineering projects for experimental networks
• Perform network modeling, analysis and planning
• Design network security measures and assess hardware/software options
• Provide assessments to optimize network performance and throughput
• Conduct advanced network optimization, technology insertion, capacity planning and configuration management
