Job summary

Ashton North LLC in Hastings, Michigan is seeking an experienced Toolmaker to build, repair, and maintain precision tooling for high-volume manufacturing. You will interpret engineering drawings, set up manual and CNC tools, and ensure tight tolerances while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

The role offers full-time direct-hire employment with shifts on 2nd and 3rd, competitive hourly rates, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) match.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent education with relevant experience.
• Completion of a recognized Tool & Die or Toolmaker Apprenticeship or 8+ years in tooling.
• Experience building/repairing dies, molds, fixtures, and tooling.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, CAD prints, and specs.

Responsibilities

• Build, repair, modify, and maintain precision tooling for high-volume production.
• Interpret drawings and CAD prints to plan machining methods and material needs.
• Set up and operate manual and CNC tool room machines; perform hand finishing.
• Inspect tooling and machined parts against drawings and specs for quality.
• Diagnose tooling failures and implement repairs to minimise downtime.
• Maintain clean, safe Tool Room and support continuous improvement initiatives.
