Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker Inc. in Decorah, IA, is seeking a Toolmaker for the 1st shift (Mon–Fri, 7am–3pm). The role focuses on tooling for header and secondary tooling in fastener manufacturing, with a starting pay rate of $23.23 per hour.

You will read blueprints, set up tooling, follow ISO/IATF16949 and SPC, and collaborate with header operators to meet quality and productivity targets. The position offers comprehensive benefits and the chance to grow in a global tooling leader.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Strong mechanical ability.
• General shop knowledge.
• Basic math skills.
• Good human relations skills.
• Knowledge in IATF16949 and ISO14001 requirements.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, read blueprints and use gauges to make and rework header and secondary tooling.
• Operate toolroom equipment and understand its purpose.
• Set up header tooling to die prints with minimal supervision to meet quality and productivity.
• Read manufacturing and tooling blueprints and select tools to meet tolerances.
• Maintain backup tooling to reduce header downtime and enhance production efficiency.
• Follow schedules and prioritize duties.
• Know and follow ISO & IATF16949 and SPC procedures.
• Assist header operators with tooling needs.
• Initiate TC/ECs to improve tooling designs and update setup sheets.
• Recognize acceptable quality of draw dies.
• Learn to interpret tooling and production prints.
• Use toolroom inspection equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area.
• Follow safety guidelines.
• Learn preventative maintenance procedures.
• Follow all safety rules.
• Perform other duties as requested by Supervisor or Leadperson.
• Must be available to work overtime as needed.
