Job summary

United Future is seeking a skilled Toolmaker for our Hastings, Michigan facility. You will build, repair, and maintain dies, molds, jigs, fixtures, and production tooling for high-volume manufacturing.

Read engineering drawings and CAD prints to determine methods, materials, and sequences. You will set up and operate manual and CNC tool room equipment, perform precision grinding and metrology, and ensure tight tolerances.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent with relevant industrial experience.
• Completion of Tool & Die or Toolmaker Apprenticeship (4+ years) or 8+ years progressive Toolmaker experience in manufacturing.
• Experience reading engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD prints and technical documentation.
• Experience operating manual and CNC tool room equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and troubleshooting abilities.

Responsibilities

• Build, repair, modify, and maintain precision tooling for high-volume manufacturing.
• Interpret drawings, blueprints, CAD prints to determine methods and materials.
• Set up, operate, and maintain mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders, and CNC tool room equipment.
• Perform precision surface grinding and metrology to ensure tolerances.
• Install, troubleshoot, and test tooling during production trials.
• Inspect tooling for conformance to drawings and specs.
• Maintain a clean, safe tool room and support continuous improvement.
